Ready to embark on this delicious journey? Here's what you'll need for your homemade Khanom Tom:

Dough Ball:

  • 1 pack Nuvojoy Low GI Kueh Ubi Kayu Premix
  • Nuvojoy Natural Colouring Powder (Optional-a pinch for light hues, adjust to your preference)
  • 150g Water
  • 35g UHT Coconut Milk
  • Handful of Shredded Coconut for tossing

Optional Filling:

  • 50g Palm Sugar
  • 100g Grated Coconut
  • 65g Water
  • Pinch of Salt

Instructions:

(Optional) Filling:

  1. Combine palm sugar, coconut, water, and salt in a saucepan. Cook on low heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture is dry and no liquid remains.
  2. The filling is ready when it is fairly dry without runny liquid.

Dough Ball:

  1. Mix Kueh Ubi Kayu Premix with 150 g water and 35 g UHT coconut milk until well combined. Separate the mixture and add a pinch of natural colouring powder for different hues.
  1. Pour your dough (one colour at a time, if using multiples) into heat-resistant containers or moulds. Steam for 20 minutes, letting the magic happen.
  2. Once steamed, cut the Kueh into bite-sized pieces and roll them into adorable balls. Toss them in the shredded coconut for a delightful textural contrast.
  3. Cut a larger piece of Kueh and add a spoonful of your (cooled) filling before rolling it into a bigger ball. This hidden treasure takes Khanom Tom to another level!

That's it! Your homemade Khanom Tom is ready to transport you to the vibrant streets of Bangkok with every bite. So grab a cup of hot tea, gather your loved ones, and indulge in this sweet escape.
